Review on Polar Vantage M watch
According to
Strava, these are watches that are currently the fastest growing in terms of
number of users.
Let’s look at what
kind of watch it is, whether it’s really worth buying and what functions they
contain.
Let's start with
quality. First of all, a running watch is interested in the quality of gps and
gps is very, very good here, it catches instantly, there are no failures, there
are no cuts, running on water and so on, this is not all. Very good gps
functions. The same applies to the built-in heart rate monitor - there is a
very good sensor and it shows very well, there may be failures, but overall it
is a very, very good watch.
As for the external decoration - the strap, the case itself - does not cause any complaints. The next option is convenience. The watches themselves are medium-sized, that is, they are not so small compact, but they are not too large. The strap is quite decent, quite soft and comfortable. The buttons are located conveniently, logically, that is, here we start training, here start stop, continued - all this is very convenient, that is, there are no problems.
Functional. Speaking about the functionality, it’s easier to explain what is not here, precisely such basic functions that are in the most top-end watches with gps. First of all, there is no way to run along the track, i.e. you can’t download the map, then click “follow the track” and run, this one is not here, there is no touch screen, in my opinion this is a plus, but someone believes that modern gadgets should have a touch screen, and there is no sound signal that will work in parallel with vibration, the fact is that sometimes you do not feel the vibration very well, and a duplicating sound signal is generally an ideal option. This is not here. There is no altimeter, a sensor that measures the height, that is, you will calculate the height using automatic google maps. This is not very accurate, of course, the built-in altimeter is better, but to be honest there the error is not so big, so this is not a problem.
Now let’s list what functions are there:
- gps - works great, no complaints;
- the built-in heart rate monitor is one of the top in the world in principle, and it works very, very well, there is the possibility of round-the-clock monitoring;
- the ability to set the interval training, for example, run three minutes fast, one minute slowly, or, for example, set the interval training by distance. A new function has been added - to run at a certain pace, for example, you need to run 10 km in 40 minutes, that is, 4 minutes per km, and now you are running, and the clock records how much you are behind this pace or how far you are running away;
- a lot of customizable displays, you can display anything, measures the step frequency well, you can record the distance without gps on the treadmill due to the step frequency;
- standard functions for any watch: stopwatch, countdown timer, you can swim with them, ride a bike.
This watch has all the functions for a runner, two-click synchronization with the phone, gps search - 8 seconds, the heart rate monitor works fine, it takes three seconds to find the chest heart rate monitor, that is, it has everything you need.
30 hours of battery life, I need them to charge once a week, while running a week about 120 kilometers.
This is an excellent watch in its price category for a runner.
